Iron
Rona Munro’s intense psychological drama set in a women’s prison, in which a mother and daughter try to breakthrough the barriers of time, memory and punishment which separate them.
Fay is serving a life sentence for murdering her husband with a kitchen knife. She is 15 years into her sentence when Josie, her 25 year old daughter, visits her for the first time. Josie has no memory of the incident, or of her father, and has come to uncover the past – a past that Fay wishes to forget.
This intensely gripping and deeply moving play is written by one of Scotland’s most prolific female writers. Her theatrical works cover challenging topics and this award- winning play is no exception – tense, harrowing and yet compassionate – perfect for the ‘Geoffrey Sword’ Studio space.
Directed by Jon Walker
