Morecambe

Such was the national affection for Morecambe and Wise that on Christmas Day 1977 28,875,000 people tuned in to watch their Christmas Special. That was over half the adult population  of the UK.
Morecambe by Tim Whitnall takes the audience back to 1984 to join Eric Morecambe on his final journey and to key moments in his life as a performer, husband and family man.
In 2009, the play won the Scotsman Award for “innovation and outstanding new writing” and a West End production in 2010 won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Entertainment.
There are 33 characters in this, all played by one actor. I am delighted to be working with Chris Dunn and a first rate team of technicians and stage crew to present this play to you to kick off our 51st season in style. With all the right words, but not necessarily in the right order, Morecambe will have you laughing, and leaving the Theatre with a smile on your face and a lump in your throat.
