Love Letters (a visiting production)

Love Letters

Ahead of the formal opening of our Season, we are delighted to bring you a bonus production from a visiting company in aid of The Ukrainian Humanitarian Appeal (D.E.C.).

The play, Love Letters by A R Gurney, is directed by Andrew Close and performed by Mark Leigh and Helen Price Aindow.

Andrew Makepeace Ladd III and Melissa Gardner, both born to wealth and position, are childhood friends whose lifelong correspondence begins with birthday party thank-you notes and summer camp postcards.  So begins a unique romantic friendship, kept alive through delicately warm correspondence, destined to last for almost half a century.  Funny and tragic, this is a love story with a difference – a play about two people who, whilst physically separated, are brought together by candid communication and shared confidences, nostalgic memories, missed opportunities, the hopes, dreams, defeats and disappointments that have passed between them, all of which lead to a deep closeness as only true lovers can have.

Critically acclaimed by both professionals and audiences, and finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, this production is available in our Studio for 2 nights only, Friday 30 September and Saturday 1 October 2022.  Each performance begins at 7.30pm.  Miss it and you will definitely miss out.
