The Suitcase Kid

Based on the book by acclaimed writer Dame Jacqueline Wilson (one of the UK’s favourite authors), this is adapted for the stage by Vicky Ireland, who was awarded the MBE medal in the 2002 Queen’s Jubilee Birthday Honours list for services to children’s drama.  This theatrical dramatisation is a family show, suitable for young and mature audiences alike.

The story: Young Andrea (who prefers to be called Andy) used to live happily at Mulberry Cottage with her family: Mum, Dad, and Radish, who is a stuffed rabbit that lives in Andy’s pocket and  shares all her secrets. But then it all went wrong: Mum went to live with Bill and his kids, and Dad went off with Carrie and her twins. Poor Andy is expected to leave the home she loves and shuttle  between the two – living out of a suitcase. Things will never be the way they were.

The Suitcase Kid is a funny and touching story of how Andy comes to terms with this strange new life.

Directed by Andrea Parle
